ELEMENTARY SPELLING BEE

Celeste Elementary held a live Spelling Bee on Friday, April 20, 2018.  Fourth and fifth grade students were given a list from the National Spelling Bee Scripps and invited to participate.  The first round was given by paper and pencil and then the top ten students from that round advanced to the live Spelling Bee.  Congratulations to Addision Kampwerth, Nikolas Hottendorf, Connor Thomas, Jeny Sanchez, Joshua Willis, Nevaeh Cannon, Madilen Fronterhouse, Sarah Hawkins, Xander Morrision, and Caelin Henderson for working hard and by making a positive difference in their knowledge by learning how to spell and define new words.

Recently, Celeste Elementary enrolled in the Scripps National Spelling Bee and there are plans underway to participate in the county Spelling Bee in the fall of 2018.  The Scripps National Spelling bee is a tradition that began in 1925.  Nine newspapers came together to promote literacy and encourage a love of reading.  Students that participate in the contest gain an advantage in academics by expanding their spelling and vocabulary.
