CELESTE FFA PARTICIPATES AT SAN ANGELO & SAN ANTONIO LIVESTOCK SHOWS - March 2, 2016

Major stock show season is well underway in Texas, and Celeste FFA students are gearing up and working countless hours to prepare animals and themselves for competition.   Raising livestock not only exposes youth to the livestock industry, but it also helps to develop important life skills.  Building social relationship and gaining exposure to diverse cultures are also benefits of raising livestock.   It also gives students an opportunity to participate in a competitive event, and of course, the knowledge gained by caring for livestock may result in a future career in agriculture.  Here are the results from San Angelo and San Antonio: 

San Angelo Junior Heifer Show: Congratulations to Kaden Douglas: 2nd with 2 heifers and Champion overall showmanship award, Madisyn Douglas: 5th 


San Antonio Junior Market Lamb Show: Top 9 lambs from each class will sale in the San Antonio Junior Livestock Auction on Thurs. Feb. 25.  Reid Tallant: 2nd,  Jaxson Dillard: 9th.  Exhibitors also included Abbi Farr and Justin Richey.   


San Antonio Junior Heifer Show: Kaden Douglas: 11th, Madisyn Douglas: 10th, Justin Douglas: 9th  


San Antonio Livestock Judging Contest: Senior livestock judging team participants included Reid Tallant, Jaxson Dillard, Shayla Daugherty and Abbi Farr. There were 953 individuals in the senior contest and 280 teams. The senior team included Shayla Daugherty, Reid Tallant, Abbi Farr, and Jaxson Dillard. The team placed 111th, and the top senior member from the team was Reid Tallant placing 276 out of the 953 individuals.  

Junior livestock judging team included Jaycee Brown, Britton Evans, Justin Richey, Cassidy Herron and Carson Herron.  The junior team placed 76th out of 126 teams.  Cassidy Herron was the top team member ranking 78th out of 409 individuals.
