The Celeste FFA Wool Team of Paris Walker, Ally D'Amico, Preslee Minter, LindaBeth Norwood, Riley Almand, Savana Qualls, Karlie Williams, Abbey Conner, and Remington Barker have been learning about how to evaluate wool. The team traveled this spring to many invitational contests including San Angelo State University, Texas Tech University, Heart of Texas in Waco, and Alvarado. Senior team members, Paris Walker, Ally D'Amico, Preslee Minter and LindaBeth Norwood competed in the District/Area 5 contest at Weatherford College on April 14, 2023. The team placed 2nd overall out of 18 teams and advanced to the state contest. There were 67 individuals in the contest and the students received awards: Paris Walker - 1st place High Individual, Ally D’Amico - 4th High Individual, Linda Beth Norwood -11th High Individual and Preslee Minter - 18th High Individual.
Paris Walker, Ally D'Amico, Preslee Minter and LindaBeth Norwood went on the compete at the State Wool judging contest which was held at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. What a great year for these 4 young ladies! They competed against the top 61 teams from all over the State of Texas. Not living in sheep country, and having limited access to product did not stop this team from achieving their goals! The team placed 18th overall, and this is a result of hard work, hundreds of hours practicing and thousands of miles on the road. It was the last time for the senior members on the team, Walker, D’Amico and Minter to judge wool. Congratulations to these team members on their repeated success. The wool team has been back-to-back state qualifiers for the past three years! We look forward to the upcoming 2024 wool judging season with LindaBeth and our new wool team. Here are the results from the state contest:
