UNBELIEVABLE CROWD ATTENDS FFA AUCTION Celeste FFA students built many of the auction items in their Ag Mechanics classes.
Celeste FFA Booster Club members were nervous about having the annual auction and BBQ in January which is several months earlier than usual. Students in the FFA program sprang into action to speed up completion of shop projects to sale in the auction. Booster club members went to work gathering up donations. Thanks to local and neighboring businesses and gracious individuals, the auction came together. Despite the uncertainty of having the auction so early in the year, it turned out to be a great night for an auction and BBQ! A surprisingly large crowd of approximately 375 attended the event. Families, friends, guests, business owners and community members showed their generosity by raising funds of over $22,000.00! According to Stephen Dillard, agricultural science teacher and FFA advisor, the future is bright for the Celeste FFA members. This money helps support students in various activities such as the Hunt County Livestock Show, scholarships for graduating seniors, travel expenses to state FFA conferences and competitions, and shop supplies. All students in the Celeste FFA will benefit from this fund raiser in one way or another.
