ART WALK 2014

Art by Austin Moore: Senior, Art IV. Celeste ISD invites parents, caregivers and the community to see wonderful student projects during open house on March 27, 2014.

 

The elementary will be open from 6-7 PM, junior high-6:30-7:30 and the high school will be open 7-8PM.  Make plans to attend the CHS Art Walk (6:30-8:00). Student art such as abstract, charcoal, graphite, scratch art, landscape, portrait, still life and sculptures will be on display in the high school. The junior class will be selling pizza during the Art Walk to raise money for prom. Come enjoy the Art Walk and grab some pizza while it lasts!

“Watercolor pencil is my favorite media. It combines the controlled
detail of using a pencil with the flow and blending qualities
of watercolor.”

Ferris Wheel (Wire Sculpture) “I like using my hands to
mold and create things. I wanted to make a unique wire sculpture
that moved instead of being stationary. I spent most of my
time tediously constructing the eight small, detailed, and identical
carts.”

Self Portrait (Watercolor and Charcoal, 18x24”) “I incorporate
my welding helmet into many of my art projects. I sketched
this image on watercolor paper and then painted over the entire
page. Then I carefully added white and black charcoal to emphasize
the contrast between the highlights and shadows on
the figure and helmet.”

Peacock Bass (Oil Pastel, 16x20”) “Fishing for Peacock
Bass on the Amazon River is on my bucket list. This type of
fish is brightly colored and very aggressive. I used oil pastels
to blend the deep, rich tones of the fish. I also overlapped
elements in the environment to create the look of thick underwater
foliage.”

Feminine Abstraction (Oil Pastel, 18x24”) “I saw some
abstract art styles I liked at the Kimball Art Museum. I used one
of the techniques to distort the figure in this portrait. I really like
all the colors and shapes.”
