Dockside Sunset (Watercolor Pencil and Chalk, 18x24”)
“Watercolor pencil is my favorite media. It combines the controlled
detail of using a pencil with the flow and blending qualities
of watercolor.”

Ferris Wheel (Wire Sculpture) “I like using my hands to
mold and create things. I wanted to make a unique wire sculpture
that moved instead of being stationary. I spent most of my
time tediously constructing the eight small, detailed, and identical
carts.”

Self Portrait (Watercolor and Charcoal, 18x24”) “I incorporate
my welding helmet into many of my art projects. I sketched
this image on watercolor paper and then painted over the entire
page. Then I carefully added white and black charcoal to emphasize
the contrast between the highlights and shadows on
the figure and helmet.”

Peacock Bass (Oil Pastel, 16x20”) “Fishing for Peacock
Bass on the Amazon River is on my bucket list. This type of
fish is brightly colored and very aggressive. I used oil pastels
to blend the deep, rich tones of the fish. I also overlapped
elements in the environment to create the look of thick underwater
foliage.”

Feminine Abstraction (Oil Pastel, 18x24”) “I saw some
abstract art styles I liked at the Kimball Art Museum. I used one
of the techniques to distort the figure in this portrait. I really like
all the colors and shapes.”
