CORBIN AWARDED TEACHER OF THE YEAR Air Force Association names Mrs. Christine Che Corbin as Chapter 416 Teacher of the Year.
Northeast Texas AFA President, Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) Vance Clarke presented Mrs. Christine Corbin, Celeste Junior High School Science Teacher, with a Northeast Texas Air Force Association 2013 Teacher of the Year Award. The presentation was done at the Celeste ISD School board meeting on February 21, 2013. The chapter recognized Mrs. Corbin for her dedication to the science program including sponsoring the robotics program and promoting STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) within her science classes. Mrs. Corbin received a check for $250 and the school also received $250 to support STEM projects of their choice. “Teachers make a big difference in our youth and our nation,” said Clarke. “The efforts of Mrs. Corbin reflect great credit upon herself, the Celeste schools, and all our Northeast Texas efforts to make our nation better. We could not be prouder of her accomplishments, “ he continued. The chapter is able to recognize two teachers each year. The teachers receive $250/$500 individually and the nominating school receives $250/$500 to use toward a STEM program. “We are looking for teachers to recognize and to help”, Clarke said. “We are looking for a Northeast Texas 9-12 grade teacher to recognize next year along with another K-8 teacher. If you know of one, let us know.” AFA will formally recognize Mrs. Corbin, along with Mrs. Marcy Whited as Teachers of the Year at a banquet to be held on April 6, 2013 at the Sam Rayburn Center, Commerce Texas A&M college campus. Those interested in coming out and supporting her can make reservations and purchase tickets by e-mailingRSVP416@netxafa.org or by calling 903-274-9981. Tickets are $25.
