FFA AUCTION & BBQ BREAKS RECORD!

Thanks to the support and generosity of people from Celeste and surrounding communities as well as local businesses, the auction and BBQ brought in over $22,000.00!

The Celeste FFA would like to send a special message of thanks to all the supporters that attended the Celeste FFA Booster Club BBQ and Auction that was held on Saturday, May 12, 2012.  Thanks to the support and generosity of people from Celeste and surrounding communities as well as local businesses, the auction and BBQ brought in over $22,000.00!  All the proceeds will help to benefit Celeste FFA members with market projects for the Hunt County Fair, scholarships for graduating FFA seniors and funding for trips such as the stateFFA convention.

Many of the items in the auction were hand-made by Celeste FFA students.  The students put lots of hours, hard work and dedication into their projects.  It was tremendous to see the huge turnout of supporters.  Students were able to experience a sense of pride and accomplishment through the bigheartedness of very giving people for making an investment in the future through the CelesteFFA.

The kids’ cake decorating contest was an amazing success.  Samantha Hughes won 1st, Jaycee Brown won 2nd and Kaylee Saye won 3rd in the contest.  There were 11 cake entries in the contest, but no one could imagine the remarkable event that took place shortly after the cake winners were announced.  Alexa Hathcock and her classmate Kaela Eason both made cakes in their life skills class at school to contribute to the cake decorating contest.  The girls’ cakes featured a fishing theme with cut-outs of them catching a fish.  Kaela was unable to attend the event, but Alexa insisted on bringing both cakes to the contest.  When it was time for Alexa’s cake to sell, she proudly came up on stage.  Having overcome a tragic accident at an early age, it warmed the audience’s heart to see this bright young lady eagerly ready to lend a hand for her school.  Then an unbelievable thing happened!  The bidding ran up quickly to over $1,000.00, but it didn’t stop there.  The audience seemed spell-bound when the price continued to rise as Chad Stephenson of Heritage Land Bank, Brad Pryor of Rafter P and Arnold Williams joined together to buy the cake for $4000.00!  This unbelievable act of kindness touched so many people.  It is sure to be an event that will be remembered for many years to come.
