The Celeste FFA officer team attended the 90th annual Texas FFA State Convention held July 9-13 in Fort Worth. FFA members spent the week attending leadership workshops, participating in events and activities, being recognized for their achievements, and serving as the legislative body for the Texas FFA Association. Highlights of the week included the following:
Chance Brown, Jaxson Dillard, Kambrie Hogue and Jaycee Brown competed as a team in the State FFA Quiz Bowl. The team made it to the semi-finals and placed 4th overall in the single elimination contest.
The Texas FFA collected supplies for the host City of Fort Worth for a service project during the convention. Celeste FFA officers gathered needed supplies such as shower curtains, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry baskets, bed sheets, towels and washcloths and donated them at the convention.
The 90th annual Texas FFA Convention recorded approximately 13,000 members and guests. Jaxson Dillard, Jaycee Brown, Josie Crossland and Bethany Carter served as Courtesy Corps members and volunteered throughout the week to handle many logistical functions at the nation’s largest state FFA convention.
Kambrie Hogue was awarded the Lone Star FFA Degree. The Lone Star FFA Degree is the highest degree bestowed by the Texas FFA. Kambrie earned her Lone Star Degree by obtaining the Chapter degree, being active in the FFA for at least two years, completing at least four semesters of agricultural science at or above the ninth grade level, maintaining a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) program, demonstrating her leadership skills, and showing a commitment to the FFA through involvement at the chapter level and above. Kambrie was one of more than 2,400 FFA members to receive this esteemed degree.
