FFA Chapter Meeting and Cornhole Tournament

Celeste FFA held a chapter meeting on Tuesday, September 24 at 6:30 p.m. The officers led the business meeting which included officer introductions, an overview of past events including attendance at various leadership events such as the state convention and officer camp.  Upcoming events were also discussed.  For instance, the annual meat sale fundraiser dates are from September 25 - October 9, and the State Fair of Texas schedule for Celeste FFA members was announced. 

Next, FFA President, Jaycee Brown, introduced the guest speak, Brad Johnson.  Mr. Johnson is an animal science instructor and judging team coordinator for Texas A&M University-Commerce.  He gave a presentation about the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at Texas A&M University-Commerce. He discussed opportunities for students to explore horticulture, wildlife, livestock herds, and more through exciting hands-on learning experiences. Mr. Johnson also shared information about the TAMU-C Farm, laboratories and opportunities to perform cutting-edge research side-by-side with world-class professors.

Following the meeting, FFA members had a cornhole tournament. The members had a great time with twelve teams competing.  Congratulations to all the teams for participating.  Here are the cornhole tournament results:

Champion team: Michael Connelly and Brenden Carter
2nd Place Team: Raegan Sumrow and Jaycee Brown
3rd Place Team: Jake Tomlinson and Jared Sherwin
