Robotics Teams Compete at Redwater Tournament

The Celeste Robotics team competed at the Redwater Robotics Tournament on Saturday, January 16, 2021.  “It is so rewarding to see the students working together as a team to accomplish a goal.  They have made so much progress this year,” stated Wendy Ragle, CHS ELAR teacher/robotics sponsor.  Older team members such as senior Stephanie Gustafson have been proving to be huge assets to the team.  Stephanie quickly stepped in during the contest to mentor the freshman students on building an autonomous code so they could move on to the semifinals.  With Stephanie’s guidance, the freshmen team as well as the senior team advanced to the final round.  Overall, the junior/senior team received 3rd place and the freshman team received 10th.  The robotics program has sparked an interest in the science, technology, engineering and math fields.  After being involved with robotics for the past three years, Stephanie is planning to attend the University of Texas to major in computer science next year.
