Celeste FFA Chapter Officers, Michael Connelly, Regan Adams, Ally D’Amico, Paris Walker, Koby Brown, Preslee Minter, Madisyn Douglas and Luke Beadles attended the 94th Texas FFA State Convention in Fort Worth, Texas on July 11-15, 2022. The officer team spent the week listening to inspiring speeches, attending special events, participating in the state speaking contest, receiving awards, and serving as the legislative representatives for the Texas FFA Association.
Celeste FFA is proud to announce that Luke Beadles placed third in the Texas FFA Senior Prepared Public Speaking Contest. To qualify for the state competition, Beadles advanced through one of 57 district competitions in the state and finished as an area winner. Participants prepare and present a six-to-eight minute speech about a current agricultural topic. Speakers present before a panel of judges and participate in a five-minute question-answer series designed to test the student’s knowledge of the chosen subject matter. Congratulations to Luke for working hard and earning this high award!
Paris Walker was awarded the Lone Star FFA Degree. The Lone Star FFA Degree is the highest degree bestowed by the Texas FFA and this degree recognizes FFA members who have received the Chapter degree, been active FFA members for at least two years, completed at least four semesters of agricultural science at or above the ninth grade level, maintained a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) program, demonstrated their leadership skills, and have shown a commitment to the FFA through involvement at the chapter level and above. Walker was one of more than 2,200 FFA members to receive this esteemed degree.
Celeste High School 2021 graduates, Kloe Walker and Raegan Sumrow, were named candidates for the American FFA Degree. The American FFA Degree is the highest degree bestowed by the National FFA Organization. The American Degree is the top degree in a four-tier degree program that recognizes individual achievement in instructional programs, supervised experience and leadership development. The American Degree is awarded at the National FFA Convention in October.
The 94th annual Texas FFA Convention recorded approximately 15,000 members and guests. Celeste FFA Officers had a fun, exciting and rewarding week at the Texas FFA Convention, and they are looking forward to the year ahead!
