Constitution Week Celebration with Ben Franklin

Celeste Elementary students celebrated Constitution Week (September 17-23) with an authentic lesson on the United States Constitution from none other than Benjamin Franklin himself!  Students were taken back in time to the signing of the constitution on September 17, 1787.  They learned about how Ben Franklin helped draft and sign the document that is our fundamental law of the United States federal system of government.  The executive, judicial and legislative branches, separation of powers and civil liberties were explained.  Ben Franklin also shared some of his famous inventions including how he discovered electricity, bifocals, swim fins and Poor Richard’s Almanac.  Thank you to Darren York, husband of Celeste High School ELAR teacher Lisa York, for playing the role of Mr. Franklin!
