Celeste FFA students launched into the new school year with an incredibly busy schedule! Over the past couple of months, FFA members have attended leadership camps, meetings, State Fair events, and they kicked off their yearly meat fundraiser. Recently, FFA members have been focusing on research and learning scripts for the upcoming Leadership Development Contest. A summary of participation in various FFA events are as follows:
Fall District 2 FFA Meeting
The District 2 FFA held a fall meeting on September 19, 2022. Celeste has two 2022-2023 district officers, Madisyn Douglas and Koby Brown, and they attended District Officer Leadership training prior to the district meeting. Both did an outstanding job leading the meeting.
Celeste FFA Members Attend Greenhand Leadership Camp
A Greenhand is a first year FFA/Ag student just beginning their FFA career and ventures. Greenhand Leadership Conference is an all-day event that involves the new students in leadership workshops, FFA history, and other fun activities. It is conducted by State, Area, and District Officers. This year event occurred at Camp Copass in Denton, Texas on September 21, 2022. FFA members attending included, Savana Qualls, Abbey Conner, Karlie Williams, Carley Wren, Ariana Ornelas, Ethan Morel, Remington Barker, Sydnee Dickens, Morgan Nickell, Brandon Moore, Lee Nelson, Cheyenne Lollis, Rylie Rodriquez, Josh Willis, and Henry Waller. Celeste FFA District Officers, Madisyn Douglas and Koby Brown, were on hand to help lead workshop sessions. There were over 900 FFA members that attended!
Ag Mech Students Busy on Metal Projects
The Ag Mech teacher, Steve Wilson, and the AG Mech shop students are cruising right along. We have a very nice trailer in the works and we are helping the city out with metal work to display aspects of Audie Murphy's life.
CELESTE FFA AT THE STATE FAIR OF TEXAS
Marker Broiler Show
Celeste FFA members Koby Brown and Ty Jackson competed in the State Fair of Texas Market Broiler Show on October 4, 2022. Congratulations to Koby for placing 4th out of 91 pens of cockerels! The top 20 cockerel pens make the auction, and Koby placed high enough in the sale to attend and walk his broilers through the Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction. Only the top 8 pens are given this opportunity!
Celeste FFA Competes at SFT Livestock Judging Contest
Celeste FFA members, Preslee Minter, Koby Brown, Paris Walker and Madisyn Douglas gave up their entire school holiday on Monday, October 10, 2022 to compete in the State Fair of Texas Livestock Judging Contest. The team scored 58th out of 195 teams and the high point individual for the team. Great job by all team members!
SFT Ag Awareness Day
Great day of fun and education at the great State Fair of Texas. On October 12, 2022, seventy-two Celeste FFA members attended Agriculture Awareness Day at the State Fair. The awesome group had great time exploring everything agriculture!
