FFA Celebrates State Fair Results

Early fall is a busy time for FFA members with the Heart of Texas Fair and the State Fair of Texas.  FFA member Madisyn Douglas exhibited two Santa Gertrudis heifers at the Heart O’ Texas Fair in Waco on September 29-30. She placed 4th and 5th in her classes.  Madisyn showed again and placed 3rd and 4th in her classes.

Friday, September 29, Luke Beadles competed in the Heart O’ Texas Prepared Public Speaking Contest. He first competed against 14 others and was top two in his room, which advanced him to finals.  Luke competed extremely well. He placed 2nd out of 115 students, and he got to take home a banner, a trophy, and a $250 Scholarship.

Koby Brown showed at the State Fair of Texas Market Broiler Show on October 3.  He exhibited two pens of broilers, and Koby placed 12th with one of his pens and qualified for the State Fair Sale of Champions

Senior FFA member, Madisyn Douglas, walked the ring for the last time at the State Fair of Texas on October 13-15, she had two 3rd place finishes and one 4th place finish in some very large and challenging Santa Gertrudis Breeding Heifer classes.

Each year the State Fair of Texas advocates for agriculture, education and community involvement with Ag Awareness Day.  On October 11, seventy-five Celeste FFA members attended.

On the closing weekend of the State Fair, Ben Mackey, exhibited his Shorthorn Plus female and placed 4th.  Ben also showed his purebred Shorthorn heifer and placed 6th.
