Celeste Junior High School held a Veterans Day Assembly on Friday, November 10, 2023. Members of the junior high student council including Adriana Briseno, Miron Haddock, Bo Lipsey, Abigail Waller, Harper Brown, Jordan D’Amico, Everly Ford, Braylon Johnson, Trevor Morel, Mary Alice Norwood, Emma Pendry, Alex Smith and Jaylee Willis led the program. Miron Haddock gave special recognition to Vietnam War Veterans. Everly Ford and Jaylee Willis shared family connections with veterans in their lives. Trevor Morel and Braylon Johnson emphasized the meaning and importance of military medals. Alex Smith recognized veterans and military families including 98-year-old World War II Navy veteran William Caldwell and his family. The Celeste Elementary Student Council sang patriotic songs, and this year the Missing Man White Table was included in the program. Student council members, Adriana Briseno and Jordan D’Amico, explained the symbolism of the round table which shows our everlasting concern for our missing men. The cloth is white, symbolizing the purity of their motives when answering the call to serve. Abigail Waller gave closing remarks and invited guests to attend the reception.
