Celeste High School Beta Club members attended the 66th Annual Senior Beta Convention which was held at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas on February 2-3, 2024. Beta members competed in a variety of academic and STEM-based, virtual, visual arts, drawing and painting, and mixed media competitions. Linda Beth Norwood gained important knowledge on running for state officer. Along with campaigning and creating a skit, she had to write a speech and present it at the Second General Session in front of thousands of Beta members. The votes may not have turned out as she had hoped, but Linda Beth stated that, “I know I will be able to utilize the skills that I learned as a candidate in the future, and for that, I am thankful to have had this experience.” Beta member Jeny Sanchez nominated Mrs. Lisa York for the sponsor appreciation award. “Even though our school doesn't have the funding that other schools have, Mrs. York goes above and beyond making sure we have as much fun in our club. Along with being our sponsor, she also teaches English 2 & 4 and makes connections with each and every one of her students. From time to time, she even gifts us snack and drinks out of her own budget during Beta events,” Sanchez stated. Celeste High School is proud to announce that the following students qualified for the Beta National Convention which will be held in Savannah Georgia in June:
