As the spring sports begin to wind down, Celeste ISD would like to recognize our student athletes for going the extra mile during this busy time of year. We appreciate the hard work, dedication and commitment that these students have shown throughout the year. Congratulations to the athletes and coaches for creating competitive teams and striving for excellence. Let’s celebrate a few highlights of the season:
The tennis team of Caelin Henderson, Regina Orduna, Kennedy Compton, Jeny Sanchez, Jada Garcia, Adam Hoffman, Gavin McDaniel, Lee Nelson, Cash Ottwell, Henry Waller, Joshua Willis, and Coach Bret Willis represented Celeste well represented district play at Princeton High School. Congratulations to the (mixed doubles) team of Cash Ottwell and Kennedy Compton for placing 2nd at district and advancing to regional round.
The District Golf Tournament was held at Webb Hill on March 25, 2024. Koby Brown led all golfers with his score of 78, and he is the District Champ of District 14 2A. Head Golf Coach/AD Demetrius Rector stated that, “The members of the golf team worked hard and showed persistence throughout the season. We are so proud of them all.” Here are the district results:

Koby competed at regionals on April 15 & 16, 2024, at the Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris, Texas. Round 1 Koby shot an impressive 72 which put him in a great spot for the next day, tied overall for 3rd place.
Day 2, Koby struggled on the first 9, but had a solid back 9. He finished day 2 with a 78, for a two-day total of 150. This left him tied for 4th place individual medalist, and tied for 7th overall including team players, just missing a playoff for state, as 3 places move on to the next round. Koby received the 1st Team All State Academic Boys’ Golf award.
The Girls’ Softball team coached by Mandy Willis might have been small in numbers but mighty in strength and courage. Congratulations to this young team for capturing the Bi-District Championship with a 10-7 win over Honey Grove. The team is set to play Italy in a best of 3 series at Forney High School on May 1, 3 and 4 if needed.
