This is my fifth year in education. I have previously worked in much larger districts where my teaching focus was on law enforcement classes and history/social studies. I have previously taught Principles of Law, US History, Government/Economics, Political Science, and the Old/New Testament. I have previously worked on curriculum design and changing the focus in the history classroom to make the learning based on the attributes of historical thinking such as research, debate, and dialogue. These skills transfer to my student's future careers and can be used regardless of their interest in history. My teaching philosophy revolves around logic and reason and how we can enhance those skills in the classroom to make students better citizens.
My wife and I will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary this year. We have three kids. Our oldest son is a freshman at Oklahoma State University, and we currently have a junior and a 7th grader. We have lived in Van Alstyne for the last seven years.
I am an avid outdoorsman, and my wife and I have been able to take fishing and hunting trips around the world. I am also interested in permaculture and better ideas for improving the landscape on my property.
